Paul Crandell

Paul Crandell recently started his consulting business 1 Degree Consulting LLC and is currently consulting and specializing in early stage companies looking to scale their marketing and operations. Paul served as GoPro’s original Senior Vice President of Marketing for 5 years. At GoPro he structured and led a team of amazingly talented marketing professionals to create one of the most iconic lifestyle brands in the world.Paul led the global expansion of GoPro out of GoPro’s Headquarter office in San Mateo California for North America. He drove the global marketing expansion by opening marketing offices, hiring people and agencies in EMEA, APAC and LATAM. Paul specializes in a myriad of marketing sectors such as; branding, sports, channel, product, content management and distribution, advertising, and business operations. In 2014 Paul received two of Ad Weeks prestigious yearly awards for his leadership as head of marketing. His first was Brand Genius and second was Grand Brand Genius. Paul lends credit to his great team who rallied together when they needed to and simply got shit done!

Background: In 1996, while producing Red Bull’s first event within the US, Paul became impressed by Red Bull’s unique marketing strategy. He was hired shortly thereafter and lead the brand through innovate sports marketing strategies, and worked closely with the Austrian headquarters team to build the brand in the US and take it from $5M to $2B within 9 years.

In October of 2007, Paul was recruited by Icon Aircraft to run marketing and build the brand authentically and join the unique design and brand promise with a new market of pilots. ICON Aircraft is now in production and is one of the most popular new aircrafts coming on the market.

In January 2009, Paul started QSA Marketing LLC with his business partner, Jim Gunning. Paul and Jim’s mission was to assist companies to market their brands credibly rather than artificially. They worked closely with Target and Coca-Cola Company’s to help build specific brands within their domains. Additionally, they assisted to launch Shaun White Supply Co.

Back in the early days, circa 1992-1998, Paul sold artwork out of his car for 3 years so he could ski and mountain bike around the country. In between mountain biking and skiing, Paul produced action and adventure sports events for Television.

Paul graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Law and Society from the University of California Santa Barbara. Paul is a dedicated family man with 2 great children and a lovely wife. Besides family, one of Paul’s proudest moments was racing in The Baja 1000 and finishing in second place.
